My rig is built around one goal: the same sound whether I'm in the studio, on stage with just an amp, or sending my signal straight to the sound engineer. Here's what I'm playing these days.

Guitars

• Two modified Fender Roland Ready Stratocasters — My main instruments. Both have Warmoth necks and DiMarzio pickups:
  • Neck: DiMarzio Paul Gilbert Injector
  • Middle: DiMarzio Area 67
  • Bridge: single-coil-sized DiMarzio Super Distortion
• PRS SC 245 — My choice when a song calls for a humbucker in the neck position.
• PRS Swamp Ash Special — Another humbucker-in-the-neck option with its own voice.

Synth & Modeling

• Roland SY-1000 Guitar Synthesizer — Most of my tone is straight guitar pickups. Paired with the Roland Ready Strats, though, the SY-1000 takes me to sounds a guitar amp can't always reach.
• IK Multimedia TONEX Pedal — Sits in the effects loop and handles the amp modeling.

Amplification & Live Sound

• IK Multimedia TONEX Cab — Carries my sound on stage.
• QSC K8 Powered Speakers — Compact, full-range PA speakers for gigs where I supply the sound system.
• QSC TouchMix Digital Mixer — Handles the mix at those same gigs.

Why This Setup?

All the amp tone lives in the TONEX, so my sound stays the same everywhere: recording, playing through an amp alone, or running direct to the house PA.
